Michael "Mick" Henry
Mick Henry is important to the history of British Columbia pottery primarily due to his association with Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada. A native of Chilliwack, and a graduate of the VSA in 1961, he was drawn to the communal vibe of the Leach Pottery when he went to visit his friend Glenn Lewis there in 1963. After returning to the west coast, and visiting Wayne Ngan on Hornby Island, he decided to establish his own country pottery at Roberts Creek in 1968. Slug Pottery was founded there and existed until 1978.
Any piece of pottery by Mick Henry is of interest to me. If you have one to sell please contact me here. |
